Telling stories together

Listen to two different people telling the same story: You will hear two different perspectives. Neutral facts, objective truth, pure stories may exist in physics. But as soon a human opinions, backgrounds and experiences are added, it becomes important who is telling the story. And some people get to tell their story more often than others. In Ashoka´s program HEY, we co-communicate with young people.  

Co-communication means sharing power over messaging, channels and style. It is part of our co-leadership with young people and means shared responsibilities.

As one example, we partnered with Ashoka Young Changemaker Vilma Rimpela from Finland. Earlier, Vilma led a project called “Representation Matters” in which she explored media imagery and different representations. For HEY, she produced a video in English, Ukrainian, German and Arabic. One of the voices is the voice of young Ukrainian changemaker Ivan Syrtsov.
