HELP US FIND THOSE WHO ARE POSITIVELY IMPACTING THE LIVES OF MIGRANTS.
Migrants themselves are often excluded from the ongoing conversations in Europe and this needs to change. With its new project ‘Changemakers for Migration’, Hello Europe invites changemakers with a migrant perspective to join forces and collaborate on transforming the media, political and public discourse.
The project brings together those that aspire to contest current prominent narratives of migrants as victims or threats. Bringing together many different stories of changemaking, this project draws connections between migrants and a myriad of innovative projects and organisations. Their stories will be shared through different Hello Europe channels, such as this one, but also aim to spark conversation on the best ways of sharing stories that are currently not reflected. Mindful of issues of exploitation of stories and images of migrants to communicate certain narratives, this project wants to change the ways we speak about migration and who with.
With these goals in mind, Hello Europe is looking for changemakers with a migrant perspective that have led or contributed to small or large-scale social initiatives; those that are ambassadors or activists of social change and who have played an important role in the lives of many. They will have made a meaningful contribution to migrants’ lives in an entrepreneurial, networking or personal capacity. Speaking from own experience, migrant changemakers fight past, current and future challenges of migrants in Europe.
The Changemakers for Migration network invites changemakers with a migrant perspective to become part of the conversation about how we can collaboratively challenge narratives, how we can work together to change the way migration and migrants are addressed, especially by large organisations and those working in the field; with the ambition to transform the conversation on a larger scale.
